If you want to take Wolverine away from Hugh Jackman, you’ll have to pry it from his cold, dead, adamantium-strengthened hands.
According to Deadline, Fox is in negotiations with Jackman and director James Mangold for a sequel to their successful standalone X-Men flick, The Wolverine.
This would afford Jackman an eighth opportunity to play Logan on celluloid.
Though The Wolverine only scored $132 million in U.S. cinemas, it grossed a remarkable (for the X-Men franchise) $280 million internationally.
As it stands, Mangold is negotiating merely to write the treatment.
Should Fox be happy with it, we can likely expect him to return to the helm.
Unless Darren Aronofsky wants to have another crack, that is. Kidding!
(Mangold replaced Aronofsky when the auteur refused to buckle to the studio’s demands…)
